CORPORATE E-MAIL SERVER LEÓN PROVINCIAL COUNCIL

THE APPROACHED PROBLEM:
León Provincial Council needed to have a functioning corporate e-mail and a great number of e-mail accounts. The Spam was becoming a problem, the number of the e-mail boxes was increasing rapidly and so were the issues regarding access to POP boxes located in an external supplier. Having the use of appropriate telecommunication and security infrastructure, an option was put forward for installing a corporate e-mail server on the local web.
SOLUTION:
Thanks to the installing of Kerio Mail Server the present León Provincial Council’s domain has been brought into operation (dipuleon.es). The accounts migration from dipuleon.es domain was gradual and in a month’s lapse all the users had their new e-mail account. Being Spam and virus free (having an external antivirus engine, which is also different from the local one), the new server also offers protection to stored data.
The Kerio Mail Server Management console remarkably facilitates preventive maintenance tasks, which are periodically carried out.
Kerio Mail Server has been installed on a Suse Linux Enterprise Server (Linux platform). The 500 e-mail accounts are jointly managed by personnel of Leon Provincial Council’s Informatics Department, who was suitably trained during the solution implementation process.
PRODUCTS:
Kerio Mail Server Version 6 has been installed on a Suse Linux Enterprise Server operating system and in a Dell server.
